Everton manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that he has been satisfied by the performances of Cuco Martina but at the same time he did admit that he could sign a new full-back during the January transfer window.
Martina arrived at the Toffees during the summer transfer window on a free transfer from Southampton and initially he struggled to find his feet at the club covering for the injured Seamus Coleman.
However the Curacao international has been solid over the last few weeks, providing competition for Leighton Baines at left-back who has been suffering with a calf injury.
Allardyce has however admitted that he will look to improve his side in January and could sign a new full-back.
“It’s [Cuco Martina’s form] obviously made the need for a full back less desperate, there’s no doubt about that,” Allardyce admitted.
“But, it isn’t his natural position, so I feel that he’s filling in and doing an exceptional job. When Leighton comes back we only really have one recognised and registered left-back in the squad.
“That might be an area I’ll want to consider strengthening if that’s at all possible in the January window.”
