Newcastle United are interested in the signature of Torino’s Afriyie Acquah during the January transfer window, according to Football Italia.
Newcastle are believed to be looking for a new midfielder to provide cover in the midfield as the Magpies look short of players capable of playing in the position effectively.
Now according to reports from Italy, one of the players the Toons have identified is believed to be Afriyie Acquah from Torino and the Magpies are reportedly preparing an offer for the Ghanaian – which will include striker Aleksandar Mitrovic as part exchange for the midfielder.
Mitrovic has not featured regularly this season for the Magpies and looks very much a sellable asset. As a result, Newcastle have decided to use Mitrovic as a negotiation tool to improve their chances of signing the powerful midfielder.
Newcastle are currently going through a rough patch in the last couple of weeks but the Magpies will need to soon get back to winning soon otherwise their early season good work might all be undone.
