West Ham co-chairperson David Sullivan has confirmed that the club will provide funds to manager David Moyes to recruit new players during the January transfer window.

The Hammers are currently struggling to avoid relegation and they will be one of the clubs that will look to reinforce their team in January in order to boost their chances of survival.

They have been linked with a number of players with Moyes indicating that he may consider an approach for Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.

The club has also been linked with another attempt to sign William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon.

In the club’s match day program ahead of the game with Arsenal, Sullivan said: “David is still weighing up the areas we are short in but you can be rest assured two or three players will be brought in to improve the team.

“Before then, we have players available again after injury, with more set to return soon, too, so there is competition for places.”
