Celtic reportedly identify 99-game EPL veteran as top transfer target for January

Celtic vs Hearts

As per The Scotman, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on reuniting with Tottenham goalkeeper Michel Vorm next month as he looks to further strengthen the goalkeeping department.

The Dutch goalie worked with Rodgers at Swansea and was a top target of his when he took up the Celtic job last summer.

While Craig Gordon has been a fine shotstopper for the Hoops under Rodgers, he’s not particularly good on the ball, and it’s a reason Rodgers is eyeing a swoop on Vorm – an excellent sweeper.

The 34-year-old is currently behind Hugo Lloris and Paolo Gazzaniga at Tottenham, and with just 6 months left on his current contract, he could be available on the cheap next month.

With 99 Premier League games for Swansea and Tottenham to his name, Vorm packs a lot of experience that should see him give Gordon a run for the money.

Tough competition for his playing berth will only force the Scotland international into becoming better than he’s at the moment, and Vorm’s arrival can really do him a lot of good while also providing Celtic with quality cover.
