Rangers were reportedly keen on landing former Aberdeen forward Niall McGinn who became a free agent during the summer transfer window, but the 30-year-old opted to join Korean K League club Gwangju.
However, the one-time Celtic man couldn’t adapt to new life in Asia, leading to the termination of his contract after just 5 months.
McGinn is now back “home”, and the trio of Aberdeen, Hibernian, Hearts and MK Dons are all interested in handing him a deal.
Hibs are seen as favourites, with manager Neil Lennon looking to reunite with the winger cum forward he once coached at Celtic.
The Northern Ireland internationalist was at weekend’s 2-2 draw between the Hoops and the Hibees, and Lennon confirmed that:
“He was invited along to watch the game and hopefully he’ll be pleased with what he saw.
“We’ve expressed an interest, that’s as far as it’s gone.”
McGinn bagged 62 league goals during his 7 seasons in the Scottish topflight, and would have no doubt been a good addition to the Rangers in the summer transfer window and in January.
However, it doesn’t seem the Light Blues will reignite their interest in the veteran forward, with a reunion with Lennon now likely to happen.
