Outspoken Manchester United legend Roy Keane has dismissed the hype surrounding Liverpool’s 7 -0 win over Spartak Moscow on Wednesday by claiming that “they’ve beaten nobody yet”.
Philippe Coutinho was the man of the day for the Reds as he went on to score a hat-trick and the win also means that Jurgen Klopp’s side extend their recent run of good form.
The win also ensured that the Reds finished off Group E as winners ahead of Sevilla and they will now find out who they play in the Last 16 on Monday.
Keane however feels that Liverpool fans should not get too excited by the clubs victory over the Russian side.
“They’re certainly in great form at the moment, they are scoring for fun and it was a comfortable night for them,” he said in his punditry role on ITV.
“Their attacking players enjoyed it but the big tests are yet to come for Liverpool, clearly they’ve beaten these so called lesser teams, but they’ve beaten nobody yet.
“It’s lovely to watch but they wouldn’t get that time and space against a decent team, it’s as simple as that.
“Give quality players time on the ball like that and they are going to punish you. The reality is if they are playing a top team in Europe they won’t get the time and space, they won’t get those opportunities.
“If you know this game then you understand they have so much bigger and tougher tests coming up.”
