Marco Silva is doing impressive things at Watford, and Jose Mourinho has turned Manchester United back into a top-flight EPL team.
Watford have been playing an impressive brand of football this season so far under Silva, which is what led to Everton becoming interested in recruiting him following the sacking of Ronald Koeman in October.
After the retirement of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, United have never really managed to compete with the big guns of World football and were also less than impressive in the Premier League.
They, however, did manage to win the League Cup and Europa League last season, in what was their first term under the guidance of the self proclaimed “special one”.
Though the Red Devils trail their City rivals by eight points, they do once again look like a force to be reckoned with and though it is unlikely that they will be able to catch City this season, they are likely to be the nearest rivals to City in the title race.
Unfortunately for the Toffees, the Hornets do not wish to part ways with their boss at this point in time. Silva also appears to not be one that will be willing to resign from his position right away in order to pursue a new challenge.
At just 40 years of age, Silva is perhaps one of the best up and coming managers in World football and it is just a matter of time before he manages one of the big guns of World football.
But when it comes to the Manager of the Year award, you can’t look past Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard has his Man City team eight points clear at the top of the table after just 13 matches. They have yet to lose a game in league play (12-1-0) and are a perfect 5-0-0 in the Champions League. It’s a tremendous step forward for the team, which finished 15 points back of champions Chelsea last season and went just 2-3-1 in the UCL Group Stage, before getting bounced in the Round of 16 by Monaco.
After failing to win a trophy last season, many would have doubted whether Guardiola had what it takes to succeed in England, following his successes in Germany with Bayern Munich and in Spain with Barcelona.
Guardiola, however, responded well following the failures of last season and brought in the likes of Kyle Walker, Ederson and Danilo, all of whom have proven to be good signings.
City do look like an unstoppable force this season and judging by the brand of football that they are playing, it will be very surprisingly if they do not land major silverware this season.
City show no signs of slowing down, there’s handy sportsbook review sites like mytopsportsbooks that say Guardiola (1/1) remains the favourite to win Manager of the Year, followed by Mourinho (6/1) and Silva (8/1).
Should Guardiola win big things with City this season, then surely even his harshest critics will have to admit that there is a case for him to be considered one of the greatest managers of this generation.
