Former West Ham midfielder Matthew Etherington believes that the club could be in serious danger of relegation if their performances do not improve.
Etherington said: “I’ve been really worried by the recent performances to be honest with you and I think there’s every chance they could go down, I really do. I just don’t see a lot in that team right now.”
The Hammers are currently playing a poor brand of football and are a side that looks deprived of confidence. They also have the worst defensive record of any team in the top flight so far.
The team will need to make reinforcements during the January transfer window in order to strengthen their side and if they do not take drastic action then relegation could be a serious possibility.
On a worrying note the last time that the Hammers were in a similar position at this time of the season (2010-11), they ended up being relegated after finishing at the bottom of the standings.
