Leeds star plans to enter club’s folklore by emulating one-time fans favorite

Since arriving Elland Road during the summer transfer window, a nasty injury has prevented Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban from hitting the ground running.

The 23-year-old showed promises by scoring on his debut against Port Vale, only for him to break a foot bone in his next game – against Sunderland.

Ekuban was forced to spend the next 15 games recuperating and returning to full fitness, only making his 3rd Leeds appearance against Middlesbrough at the weekend.

He’s now hoping to kick start his Whites career by following in the footsteps of compatriot Tony Yeboah.

The former hitman is a Leeds legend as they come, with the many spectacular goals he notched during his 3-season stint at Elland Road in the mid-90’s earning him a cult hero status.

Ekuban also wants to write his name in Leeds folklore, recently revealing: “I thought this was the season to achieve something better in my career.

“I heard about Leeds from my dad because he talked about Tony Yeboah.

“He said you need to play like him! I said it’s not that easy but I will try!”

Having scored 17 goals in 34 games while on loan at Albanian top-flight club FK Partizani from Chievo, Ekuban remains a quality striker, and should he manage to replicate last term’s form, he could be on his way to becoming a Leeds legend like Yeboah.
