According to Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Aston Villa are considering a January move for Bologna central defender Filip Helander.
Helander had been previously linked with a move to Leeds United during the summer transfer window though a move never materialized.
The 24 –year-old has so far made 12 appearances in the Serie A this season and was also part of the Sweden team that successfully qualified for the 2018 World Cup after defeating four time World Champions Italy over a two legged playoff.
Despite the reports linking Helander with a move to Villa, Steve Bruce could be preparing for a quiet January transfer window in order to comply with FIFA financial fair play regulations.
Villa will need to offload a few players before they can consider making new signings and one of the players who they will be looking to get rid of is Tommy Elphick.
Elphick has managed just 22 starts across all competitions during the 18 months which he has spent with Villa thus far.
