Palace boss Hodgson surprised to see Everton struggling to appoint a new manager

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has said that he is surprised that Everton are struggling to find a new manager.

Hodgson said: “I am a little bit surprised Everton are struggling to find someone because it’s such a big club. I’m sure there are lots and lots of people who want to take the job, but maybe it does show the difficulty owners have these days of finding the right man for the job.

“I’m pretty certain the fact they’ve not appointed anyone yet is not because they haven’t got anyone to choose from, it’s because they haven’t found the candidate that’s ideal for the club.

“I haven’t followed it, I haven’t involved myself in it, because I have enough to involve myself in, quite frankly, on a day-to-day basis with Crystal Palace.

“That’s enough for me. I don’t need to get involved or have opinions; I leave that to the people working at those clubs.”

The Toffees have been without a manager since they parted ways with Ronald Koeman following their 5-2 Premier League defeat against Arsenal last month.

Since then David Unsworth has served as manager of the club on a temporary basis though they have not made notable progress under him.

Some of the managers that the Merseyside club have been linked with include Sam Allardyce, Burnley boss Sean Dyche and Watford boss Marco Silva. Allardyce has since distanced himself from the job while Watford do not seem keen on letting Silva go.
