As per Turkish-Football, Newcastle are keeping tabs on Besiktas midfielder Tolgay Arslan after he impressed the club’s representatives during last week’s Champions League clash against Monaco.
The 27-year-old versatile midfielder has been very integral in the middle of the park for the Super Lig giants in recent campaigns, playing a key role as they emerged victorious in 2015–16 and 2016–17.
Arslan’s impressive passing and dribbling stand him out of the lot, and it didn’t take long for him to be noticed against the French despite not being the target of the Toons scouts.
The Magpies will continue to monitor the German-born Turkish ahead of a possible swoop in January, but they do have competition for his interest in Crystal Palace who are also keen.
Despite not lacking for options in their midfield, Arslan’s ability to play in attacking, central, and defensive midfield positions makes him a very exciting option for manager Rafa Benitez’s side.
Although he has 5 years left on his current deal, Newcastle should be able to afford the former Hamburger SV man, and for the right price, Besiktas won’t hesitate to let him leave.
