Leeds’ dismal form continued over the weekend as they fell to a 3-1 loss to Brentford – their 7th loss of the campaign.
The Whites are now 10th on the Championship log, 3 points adrift the playoffs places and manager Thomas Christiansen’s job could be on the line if results don’t get better.
It’s widely believed the Danish tactician would have been fired were former owner Massimo Cellino still chairman of the Yorkshire outfit.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan is afraid the club could slip further down the table if the situation doesn’t change, and he says a run of results not as worse as this has cost some managers their jobs.
The BBC Radio Leeds matchday co-commentator reacted thus following weekend’s defeat: “As a manager your future gets dictated by results. When I look at that [his recent record] I’ve seen managers get sacked for less.
“It’s critical now. That’s an awful run of results. There’s no polishing over it. You look at the teams we should have beaten. Even our home form, it’s completely dropped.
“Yes a good result against Bristol City, but it doesn’t make up for the last two defeats.
“We can’t keep coming with one win and then losing three.
“We’ve now got a run of games which could send us further down if we don’t buck our ideas up”
After the international break, Leeds face Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Barnsley in the last fixtures in November, with former two set to be tough encounters.
Defeats against both teams would see Leeds fall into the lower half of the log, further jeopardizing their playoff chances.
