West Ham striker Andy Carroll has slammed fans of his club who walked out during their 4-1 defeat against Liverpool this weekend
Liverpool comprehensively thrashed the struggling East London club through a brace from Mohamed Salah and goals from Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The loss leaves the Hammers in the relegation zone and in 18th position on the League standings with nine points from 11 games.
Carroll was angry after the game as thousands of Hammers fans left the stadium before the final whistle while others who choose to remain jeered the team.
A livid Caroll said: “They should be staying. They should be staying until the end. You never know what’s going to happen. They walked out at half-time against Tottenham when we were getting beat 2-0 and we turned it round to win.
“Crystal Palace fans did the same last week. Look what happened – they equalised in the 97th minute. Fans should stay until the end, regardless of the team.
“Would I like to see a bit more loyalty? One hundred per cent. Obviously, it frustrates you. You don’t think about it during the game.”
In what will be disturbing news for West Ham, their record at this stage of the season is equal to the record which they had at the same stage of the 2010/11 season during which they were relegated.
