Interim Rangers boss Graeme Murty will oversee his 2nd game in charge of the club since taking over from Pedro Caixinha when Partick Thistle visit Ibrox on Saturday.
Having seen him led the side to a 3-1 win over Hearts at Murrayfield last Saturday, the board aren’t in a haste to replace Murty with a permanent managerial signing, and are hoping to get the best man for the job.
Derek McInnes, Alex McLeish, Ally McCoist, Sam Allardyce, Alan Pardew, Michel Preud’homme and Frank de Boer have all been linked with the vacant position, suggesting there is more than enough top quality available for Rangers to choose from.
Former Light Blues’ defender Clint Hill believes the board can’t and shouldn’t go wrong in their final choice, citing the availability of many top tacticians in search of a gig as a reason.
The 39-year-old Carlisle United star told Daily Record: “The club’s in good hands with Graeme at the first team helm.
“There’s no rush to make an appointment and the calibre of managers currently out of work is staggering.
“There are so many highly professional coaches looking for clubs. There’s no shortage of supply and now it’s up to the board to make the right call.”
Rangers appear ready to break the bank in order to land the best man for the job, with keenly challenging Celtic for the prizes still top of their agenda.
The Glasgow outfit can’t afford not to get it right with their next call, as the appointment of the new boss will go a long way in deciding the club’s immediate future.
