This Saturday, November 4, 2017 (8:00 PM Pacific) Club America will host Puebla at the Estadio Azteca for a game in the 16th round of matches in the Liga MX Apertura 2017. Both teams are living very different seasons from one another but it should still prove to be a very exciting game.
Club America has been one of the better teams in the Liga MX Apertura 2017 currently in sixth place with 26 points but has been dropping off in recent weeks. Las Aguilas are coming off two consecutive losses first a 1-0 loss against Necaxa at home, then a 2-0 loss against Monterrey away from home. The biggest problem for the Mexico City team has been finding a consistent scorer, with players like Oribe Peralta and Silvio Romero severely underperforming.
Carlos Darwin Quintero has been resurging since the return of manager Miguel Herrera and has been one of the most exciting players on this America team. This should be a very winnable game for Los Azulcremas especially in front of a home crowd but it will be facing a Puebla team that has been in good form.
Puebla has had a very poor Apertura 2017 season currently in 15th place with 15 points but it has been surging since the arrival of new manager Enrique Meza. La Franja has two wins, a draw and a loss under Meza including an impressive 2-0 win against Monterrey and a recent 3-0 win against Pumas UNAM. Two key players were absent in that win against Pumas, Brayan Angulo and Lucas Cavallini but could be set to return in this game as both look to be match-ready.
The team succeeded without these players but could use them against a formidable rival in Club America. Meza’s starting lineup in that game featured 10 Mexican-born players and played very comfortably in front of the home crowd. This game is set to be a mismatch but could easily prove to be a very complicated match for the host, Club America.
