Noble hands West Ham a warning ahead of Liverpool clash

West Ham club captain Mark Noble has called on his team-mates to improve their game management if they wish to improve their predicament.

The Hammers have so far been poor this season and have picked up just nine points from their opening ten games. Defeat against Liverpool on Saturday could see them falling into the relegation zone and could see under-fire manager Slaven Bilic being sacked.

The Hammers lack of management could be seen last weekend as they squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with bottom of the pack Crystal Palace.

West Ham will know that they cannot afford to be reckless against Liverpool as the likes of Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah could punish them if they do so.

Noble said to the West Ham website: “People talk about ‘managing the game’ and a lot of it is common sense. We need to be able to see the time out by slowing the play down and, in a way, get the opposition and their fans feeling anxious. “I don’t think we have done that well enough this season.

“You can’t make mistakes like we made at Crystal Palace in the Premier League and expect to win matches, so we really need to learn how to hold onto a lead because we’re really shooting ourselves in the foot.”
