Having gone 2 consecutive games without victory, Celtic will attempt to return to winning ways when they travel to McDiarmid Park to face St. Johnstone on Saturday.
A win against the 6th side on the Premiership log will see the Hoops extend their 100-year-old British record of 62 domestic games unbeaten to 63.
An injury blow to the Saints could hand Celtic boost as they look to maintain their lead on top of the table.
On-loan Rangers forward Michael O’Halloran is currently sidelined and having gone scoreless and winless in their last 5 games, his absence will only further compound Johnstone’s woes.
Manager Tommy Wright confirmed that the 26-year-old with 5 league goals to his name this term remains a doubt for weekend’s clash.
According to him: “Michael O’Halloran is a major concern. He is still complaining of discomfort in his ankle.
“He won’t train in the early part of the week and we will assess him again. Hopefully Michael can put up with the discomfort and decide he can play through it.
“Having spoken to the medical team here he wouldn’t be doing it any lasting damage and then we have the international break to help out.
“It’s not looking great at this stage but we have a few more days before we have to make a decision. We will just have to wait and see how he responds.
“I am not ruling him out but ultimately it is one of those injuries which will come down to how Michael feels about playing.”
While Celtic are expected to stroll to victory, O’Halloran’s absence will only make things easier.
A draw against Kilmarnock last weekend saw Aberdeen close the gap on them to just a point, and failure to secure all 3 points on Saturday could see them lose their spot to the Dons.
