According to a report from Sky Sports News, Rangers will not continue talks with Michel Preud’homme about their managerial vacancy and will instead look to appoint a British boss. The Gers are currently without a manager after parting ways with Pedro Caixinha last week.
During the weekend, it was claimed that Preud’homme had had initial talks with Rangers over becoming the new manager.
However Sky Sports have now suggested that the Scottish club are looking to appoint a British national who has extensive knowledge of Scottish football and who has managed in Scotland at some point during the past.
Although Preud’homme has previously won trophies during his stints with the likes of Standard Liege, KAA Gent, FC Twente, Al-Shabab Riyadh and Club Brugge KV, it is now apparent that the Gers do not want to appoint another foreigner to succeed Caixinha.
Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is currently the favorite to take over while Walter Smith and Alex McLeish are also in the running.
