Shearer outlines the problems plaguing Everton at the moment

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer believes that Everton had “no goal threat” during their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester on Sunday.

Everton were totally dominated by the Foxes who were playing their first game under new boss Claude Puel.  The home side snatched the three points within the first half through goals from Jamie Vardy and Demarai Gray.

The loss extends Everton’s poor form this season and leaves them in 18th position on the standings with just eight points from ten games.  It is now quite clear that Everton need to sign a new top striker during the January transfer window.

Following the departure of Romelu Lukaku during the summer, Oumar Niasse is the only forward that has shown some good touches, however he is not a World class striker that can find the back of the net on a regular basis.

Shearer took to his personal Twitter account and wrote: “Plenty of effort and endeavour from Everton but no goal threat at all.”
