Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he cried when Huddersfield who are managed by his good friend David Wagner, were promoted to the Premier League.
The Terriers played against Reading during the final of the Championship playoffs last season and ended up winning to win promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.
They have played impressively in the Premier League so far and are currently in 11th position on the standings with 12 points from nine games. They also pulled off arguably the upset of the season thus far last weekend by recording a victory over Manchester United.
Klopp has now spoken about the emotions that he felt during Huddersfield’s penalty shootout win over Reading during the Championship playoff final.
Klopp said: “I was in the South of France at a friends’ house and we watched it on television. He asked me if I wanted to come.
“I did not want to come in the stadium and have one camera on me and see how I react when he should be, or his team, in the middle of all interest.
“I was nervous like hell and afterwards, Ulla [Sandrock, Klopp’s wife] sent him a video of me crying like a baby when it happened, the final penalty, as I could not stop.”
