Barcelona to challenge Liverpool in the race for World Cup winner

According to a report published by ESPN, Liverpool may swoop for PSG star Julian Draxler if Philippe Coutinho ends up joining Barcelona.

Coutinho was a priority target of the Catalan giants during the summer and the Brazilian wanted to make the move happen, having handed in a transfer request to the Reds.

By the looks of things, Barcelona may well end up attempting to sign the player again in January.  As a result of this, Liverpool have begun to scout out replacements in the case that Coutinho ends up leaving the club.

Draxler joined PSG in January and has so far made five starts in the Ligue 1 this season.  He may however be unhappy with his lack of action in the Champions League and he has so far not been used in any three of the clubs fixtures this season.

It will be a major coup if the Reds manage to sign the German international.
