Talks of Newcastle getting acquired by a new owner continue to grow daily since current chairman Mike Ashley put the club up for sale.
Takeover expert Amanda Staveley remains a front runner in the acquisition of the Saint James’ Park outfit, and there are talks her consortium will pump £500million into transfers should she become successful with her bid.
It’s believed Newcastle could become title contenders should top players be signed, with former owner Sir John Hall claiming the right investment in the next 5 years will turn the club into a mega side.
However, given the tough competition going on as far as winning the Premier League title goes, former Arsenal star Ian Wright believes Newcastle have a better chance of being a regular top 10 side than winning the trophy.
The Premier League legend and pundit expressed his opinions on the Magpies’ pulling a Leicester City on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club : “Newcastle should be aiming for a top 10 finish.
“The stars aligned for Leicester. I can’t see those top sides not being involved. To win the Premier League in the current climate with Pep, with Pochettino, is going to take some doing.”
Newcastle are currently 7th on the table following 9 games, and should they maintain their impressive start to the campaign, a top 10 finish is possible.
In the future, the club could become a regular top 6 side, and should their development continue, a first Premier League title since 1927 might not be far off.
