22-year-old speaks of his dream of playing for Manchester United

Liverpool target Timo Werner has revealed that he dreams of playing for the Reds’ arch-rivals Manchester United, as reported by the Metro.

Liverpool have been targeting RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner for a while now after the forward broke into the scene with a successful season last year in the Bundesliga as well as for the Germany national team at the Condeferations Cup.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big fan of the youngster and is desperately looking to sign the German international in the foreseeable future.

However, the German tactician’s hopes to land Werner have received a massive blow as the talented forward revealed that he is a big supporter of the Reds’ fiercest rivals Manchester United.

Speaking with Sky, Werner spoke about growing up to adore Sir Alex Ferguson and his successful United team, stating, “As a young boy, you always dream of the big club you’d like to play for. It used to be Manchester United under Alex Ferguson, who always won.

“A young boy is always a fan of those who win.  You can’t just drop something like that. When it’s going well, you dream of playing somewhere else.”

Liverpool supporters have been looking forward to the pursuit of the young Werner but the latest revelations from the striker might change the stance of many Kopites, who have a well-known hate of their Mancunian rivals.
