This Sunday, October 22, 2017 (5:15 AM Pacific) Veracruz will host Chivas of Guadalajara at the Luis “Pirata” Fuente for a game in the Liga MX Apertura 2017. Both teams have had disappointing campaigns but should still give a solid showing in this game and make for an exciting match.
Veracruz still has a very slight chance of making the playoffs but at this point of the season just needs points to avoid relegation. Jose Cardozo has been doing a decent job since taking over as the manager with a win, a draw and two losses.
The most recent result for Los Tiburones Rojos was a slim 1-0 loss against Tigres UANL but the team did put in a very solid performance in this game. The defense has proven to be rigid since the arrival of Jose Cardozo with players like Guido Milan and defensive midfielder Cristian Pellerano putting in strong performances lately. This is a very winnable game for Los Escualos especially at home but it should prove to be a very exciting game.
Chivas of Guadalajara is currently in last place with only nine points and has proven to be the worst team in the Liga MX Apertura 2017. Los Rojiblancos have lost four consecutive games and are coming off a 2-1 loss to archrivals Club America away from home. Many players have been disappointing this season but Rodolfo Pizarro has been decent with three goals and two assists and will be back in action for this game after a red card that kept him out of the Clasico Nacional.
Matias Almeyda will suffer another important loss in this game as Alan Pulido is set to miss the rest of the tournament due to an injury. This will not be an easy game for Chivas especially at home but the team should still be able to put in a competitive effort on Sunday afternoon.
