Lobos BUAP is currently 12th with 14 points and still has a very slight chance of finishing in the top eight. Realistically it is unlikely that the team from Puebla will make the playoffs especially with only four games left and coming up against a very tough opponent in this match. Lobos will still want to keep on adding points as the team finds itself in last place in the relegation table. Los Poblanos have had a ton of problems this season from making a TV deal to asking money from fans to most recently having an hour delay for failing to turn on the lights at the stadium. Manager Rafael Puente Jr. has some decent players like Julian Quinones, who has scored six goals this season but it is unclear if the team is here to stay in the top-flight of Mexican soccer.
Cruz Azul has had a decent season but could easily miss out on the playoffs, currently in seventh place with 21 points. La Maquina is coming from a controversial 2-1 win against Queretaro, where the Mexico City team was awarded three penalties. Uruguayan striker Martin Cauteruccio put away two of the penalties to lead his team to the three points from the game. Before that win, Los Cementeros suffered an embarrassing 3-1 defeat against archrivals Club America and this could prove to be a complicated game for Paco Jemez’s men. Cruz Azul needs to have a strong run in these last four games to stay in contention for a playoff spot and need the three points against a very beatable Lobos BUAP team.
