Sunderland’s Marc Wilson has claimed that his club are getting better and better with each game as the new signings get fitter.
Since Wilson arrived at the club, they have yet to win a game and currently lie in 23rd position on the League standings with eight points from 12 games thus far.
Following the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season, it experienced a squad revolution and brought in the likes of Wilson, attacker Jonny Williams and winger Callum McManaman – all of whom played very little football for their clubs and joined the Black Cats in search of more game time.
Wilson has now insisted that things are getting better for them, saying, “With every game that’s gone by we’ve seen an improvement. There are a few lads who haven’t played a lot of football so it’s taken time to get back up to speed.
“Nothing can get you up to speed other than playing in proper games. Against Hull we played terrific in the first half but in the second half they pinned us back as you would expect and that was my third game in a week.
“The fixtures I played when I first arrived, I saw a big improvement in performances both from myself and the rest of the lads. Yes, it’s satisfying (to be playing) but it’s been disappointing to lose football matches. You’re always disappointed to lose, which any footballer will tell you.”
