Everton reportedly to rival Celtic for signature of £10million-rated 31-goals-in-8-months striker

Everton’s lack of goals in the new season has been attributed to their failure of effectively replacing Romelu Lukaku, and the Merseysiders are planning ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Hot Sport, the Toffees are keen on Red Star Belgrade’s prolific centre-forward Richmond Boakye, and did send scouts to watch him in last month’s Europa League clash against Cologne.

However, they have Celtic and the EPL trio of Swansea, Chelsea and Crystal Palace firmly in their way for the services of the Ghanaian international.

Boakye has bagged 31 goals for the Serbian Super Liga giants and the West African side in 2017, and his form has also attracted the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach, Anderlecht, CSKA Moscow and Fenerbahce.

The 24-year-old is said to be worth £10million, and the Goodison Park outfit are preparing for a swoop come new year.

Celtic on the other hand are unsure of Moussa Dembele’s future at Parkhead, and have identified Boakye as his potential replacement.

The winter transfer window could have the tussle for the signature of the former Juventus youngster narrowed down to Everton and Celtic, and whichever side land him can consider itself lucky.
