This has resulted in Xolos winning 3 out of 4 matches in the Copa Libertadores, but at a cost of playing terribly in the Liga MX.
With a Wednesday game scheduled against San Jose in Bolivia for the Copa Libertadores, it is almost certain that we will not see any starters in the match against Toluca. Xolos would clinch a spot in the Copa Libertadores’ Round of 16 with a tie or win against San Jose, and El Turco Mohammed will want to keep his key players fresh for the game against the Bolivians.
Toluca has lost its last 2 Liga MX games, it’s currently in the 14th place of the standings, and the playoffs hopes are quickly diminishing. However, they still have a shot at making it to the Round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. It all starts with the Thursday game against Nacional in Uruguay; Toluca must at least draw to remain alive. That is why we won’t get to see any starters against Xolos on Saturday. Meza will save his key players for the key match on Thursday, which could very well save or destroy the entire season for Toluca.

These two teams have been struggling in the Liga MX, due to the travel and fatigue brought on from participating in the Copa Libertadores. Both teams will show up with “b-squads”, and it will be up to the subs to see who gets the points. The Xolos Tijuana vs Toluca match will end in a 1-1 tie. Both teams have been doing terribly with their alternate squads, and I can’t see either team winning this one.
