Rangers risk losing star in January as English side reportedly scout him

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa chief scout Tony Coton attended Rangers clash with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Friday night, with Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos his target.

The Championship team have had eyes on the 21-year-old since he took the Scottish topflight by storm following his summer arrival from Finnish side HJK Helsinki.

Morelos has replicated the form that saw him bag 46 goals in 62 games at Finland, scoring 8 goals in 13 matches for Rangers.

Villa boss Steve Bruce wants another striker to help fuel his side’s promotion charge after Ross McCormack was loaned out to Melbourne City.

Rangers, though, aren’t keen on losing Alfredo halfway through the campaign, as their top 2 ambitions could come crashing down once his goals are removed.

However, the Villans’ offer could prove too juicy for the Ibrox outfit to turn down, but should they manage to hold on to their star player until the end of the season, keeping him for another term could be impossible.
