This Tuesday, October 17, 2017 (6:00 PM Pacific) Queretaro will host Cruz Azul at the Estadio Corregidora for a game in the 10th round of matches in the Liga MX Apertura 2017. Queretaro does not have much to play for at this point while Cruz Azul is looking to sneak into the playoffs by the end of the tournament.
Queretaro is currently 14th with just 11 points in the Liga MX and it does not look possible that the team will reach the playoffs by the end of the tournament. Los Gallos Blancos are coming off two consecutive 2-2 draws first against arguably the best team in the league Monterrey and most recently against the worst team in the league Puebla.
Camilo Sanvezzo has been in tremendous form recently, scoring three out of Queretaro’s last four goals, this includes a brace in the game against Puebla. The Brazilian striker will be the main player to watch in this game and his performance could play a massive role in the outcome of the game.
Cruz Azul has been slowly regressing as the weeks go by now in seventh place with 18 points. La Maquina is coming off a humiliating 3-1 loss against Mexico City rivals Club America at home and is now only two points ahead of Atlas in ninth place and three points ahead of Club Tijuana in 10th. Spanish Winger Edgar Mendez scored the lone goal in the match against Club America but will miss this game because of an excessive amount of yellow cards in the tournament.
His absence could play a significant role in the game as Mendez has been a key figure for Paco Jemez, scoring five goals in this Apertura. The match is set to be a mismatch but could be a lot closer than expected especially with a Queretaro side that has proved to be very inconsistent.
