Klopp makes bold comparison between Liverpool and Manchester United

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that the defensive minded approach which Manchester United utilized during their 0-0 draw against the Reds at Anfield on Saturday would not be tolerated at his club.

Though both sides had their fair share of opportunities to score, Klopp’s side arguably came closer to winning as they had more shots at goal. Had it not been for a fine save from David De Gea to deny Joel Matip, they could have won the game.

Klopp was critical of the defensive tactics that Mourinho used for the game and revealed that he would not tolerate them at his side.

He said: “I think the performance was worth three points. We were the better side. I think Man United came here for the point and they got it. We wanted three points and didn’t get it. I’m sure if we played like this, you could not do this at Liverpool. Obviously for Man United it is OK.

“It’s quite difficult when a top-class team like Man United has that defensive approach. You’re not going to get 20 chances. But we had enough – a big one in the first half, and a penalty I feel. We were unlucky.”
