Stoke City’s Kevin Wimmer has revealed what Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said to him when he left the North London club to join the Potters during the summer.
Wimmer made a promising start to life at Spurs after joining the club in 2015 though he did not manage to establish himself as a first team regular within the squad after failing to challenge Jan Vertonghen for his place.
Stoke offered him an escape route during the summer and he agreed to make the switch to the bet365 Stadium.
Wimmer has now revealed that the move took place with there being no hard feelings on either side and said: “I had a very good conversation with him at the end and he was very happy for me about the move.
“It was very good that he also made it possible that I could join Stoke. Of course, with Mark Hughes, I have another good manager and I’m very happy to be here.
“I want to keep improving, but there’s nothing to show to Mauricio because at Spurs, we had lots of good centre-backs and I was happy to be part of this team for two years.”
