Keith Andrews explains what will be a good season for Leeds United

Former West Brom midfielder Keith Andrews has revealed that he thinks that Leeds United would have done well if they manage to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

The Whites have never managed to play in the top flight since they were last relegated in 2004 though they did narrowly miss out on a place in the promotion playoffs during recent seasons.

Thomas Christiansan’s side are currently fifth on the Championship standings with 20 points from 11 games. After finishing seventh on the standings last season, there is no doubt that they will be itching for a promotion challenge this season.

Andrews believes that if the club challenges for a place in the playoffs, their season would have been successful. He said: “Overall, where they’re sitting in the league I think they can be very content with what they’ve done. I just felt when [Christiansen] took over he kept the formula that Gary Monk brought on board last season.

“He had to change it, obviously with Chris Wood going, but the likes of [Ezgjan] Alioski and [Samuel] Saiz coming in, they kept [Pablo] Hernandez and [Kemar] Roofe, they’ve still got good players but maybe they need to tweak it.

“Overall, if they can get plays-offs it’s a very, very good season after another summer of turbulence.”
