Star will do this to help Celtic qualify for Champions League knockout stages

Celtic vs Hearts

Celtic resume Champions League action with a trip to Germany to face Bayern München next Wednesday, and English winger Scott Sinclair is confident his side can shock the Bundesliga giants.

The Hoops will be play host to the Bavarians 2 weeks after the first leg, and results over the double-header will determine which of the 2 European competitions Celtic will be playing by January.

Sinclair wants the Champions League, and has claimed that’s the main focus of the club.

Both teams are tied on same points, with only goal difference separating them after winning and losing a game each.

Munich remain favourites to finish behind group leaders PSG, and after a dismal start to the campaign led to the removal of manager Carlo Ancelotti, it’s believed they will prove their worth all over again with a dominating performance against Celtic.

Sinclair, who is hoping to use the games as an avenue to stake a claim for a place in the England squad to the World Cup, however believes the Scottish giants can upset their German counterparts.

He told the Herald ahead of next week’s encounter: “We have confidence and no matter who we play we’ll give 100% and try to get the result.

“If we play like we did the other night (against Anderlecht) we can give Bayern a tough game.

“With our quality we have to go with the aim of getting through the group. We give that a go and if we fall short then we go into the Europa.

“The main focus is still the Champions League – we’ll try and progress and see where it takes us.

“We’ve gone through the qualifiers and worked hard to get where we’re going and we have to stick together and make sure we do as well as we can.”
