The United States are a draw away from sealing a spot at next year’s World Cup, as a point against Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday will see them finish behind Mexico and Costa Rica in the CONCACAF qualification group.
The USMNT have Newcastle right-back DeAndre Yedlin as one of their key players, and will hope the 24-year-old help them to the much needed result away from home.
The former Tottenham man has grown in leaps and bounds since arriving Saint James’ Park in 2016, and has often replicated his form for Newcastle at international level.
Yedlin attributes his swift development and continual growth to the managerial expertise of Magpies boss Rafa Benitez.
Ahead of USA’s crucial clash against T & T, the fullback told ESPN: “It’s a very physical league. It’s a league that if you lose focus for even a little bit of time, they can punish you. Working with Rafa has taken my game to another level.”
Yedlin will look forward to sealing victory against the Caribbean side and also quickly returning to Tyneside ahead of weekend’s Premier League clash against Southampton.
