Match Preview

Colombia is currently in third with 26 points on the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying table but is only three points ahead of Chile in sixth place. Los Cafeteros have failed to win in two consecutive games, getting draws against Brazil and Venezuela. Jose Pekerman counts with a very solid side including players like Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Juan Cuadrado. This squad should be able to defeat Paraguay like it did the last time the two teams met in the ninth matchday of the competition.

Paraguay has been a very solid team in these CONMEBOL qualifiers currently in seventh place with 21 points, just three points behind fourth-place Peru. Los Guaranies have only won three out of its last seven games in these qualifiers but this includes wins against Chile and Argentina. A big absence for the team will be striker Lucas Barrios, who is suffering an injury but Real Betis’ Antonio Sanabria is a suitable replacement for the veteran Barrios.

The re-inclusion of 34-year-old striker Oscar Cardozo is also an intriguing option for manager Francisco Arce in the attack. This should be a very entertaining match between two teams that are eager to get the three points from the game.
