West Ham vice-chairperson Karren Brady has claimed that Liverpool fringe player Daniel Sturridge is as good as Tottenham ace Harry Kane.
Kane is widely viewed as one of the best English talents as he has finished as the top scorer in the Premier League during the past two consecutive seasons and is currently on a sublime run of form having scored 13 goals already this season.
Despite having scored 22 goals from 26 games whilst partnering Luis Suarez up front for the Reds during the 2013-14 season, Sturridge has failed to deliver and has only scored 10 goals during the past two years though he has been blighted by injuries.
Brady admitted that Kane is a great talent whose game play is built around common sense and hard work.
However she also did say that Sturridge has a similar talent ability, saying, “Some of us thought Manchester United’s £89million for midfielder Paul Pogba and City’s £50m for right-back Kyle Walker were signs the market pecking order was levelling out.
“Then up popped Paris Saint-Germain to splash out £360m on forwards Neymar and KylianMbappe. The old order had readjusted.
“Entertainment was again rewarded ahead of industry. Clean sheets are loved by coaches, football educators and teams who can’t score.
“I guess that’s why so many people like to watch JurgenKlopp’s Liverpool — they are full of swashbucklers.
“Even Daniel Sturridge, perhaps the only English striker with Kane’s talent, is seen far more often in one of those comfy seats that have replaced the old-style bench than on the field.”
