Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Philippe Coutinho is 100% committed to the club. The Brazilian was disappointed after he handed in a transfer request to the club in the hopes of joining Barcelona. However the Reds refused to sell and Coutinho will remain a Liverpool player for now.
Coutinho made his return from injury earlier in the month and has done well so far as he has gone on to play a role in three goals that his club have scored during their past two fixtures.
The 25-year-old will be expected to start for the Reds during their game against Newcastle on Sunday and should the Merseyside club wish to have a good season, he will likely have to play a big part.
When speaking about Coutinho, Klopp said, “It’s just good to have him here. I don’t think we have to talk about who handled which situation what way – at the end we are professionals and we take it like it is. He’s obviously in a really good shape.
“That’s good for us and the only thing that’s important. The team was really happy when he was back, no discussions about why and what. That’s professional football, we’re not non-league anymore. There are offers for different players, sometimes people think about it and sometimes not.
“That’s absolutely normal. But being 100% with where you are when decisions have been made – that’s the only way life works, and football is no different. He is here with us 100% and that’s really cool.”
