Everton reportedly eyeing attacker who has scored 39 goals in the last two seasons

Everton are reportedly trailing Aston Villa forward Jonathan Kodjia with the view of signing the talented forward in the January transfer window.

Kodjia was the only consistent goal-scorer for a disappointingly profligate Aston Villla side last season, as he scored an impressive 19 goals in the Championship in just 36 appearances.

As a result, Kodjia has attracted the interest from a host of top clubs and it has been claimed that Premier League side Everton are currently eyeing up a swoop for the Ivory Coast international.

Everton, who themselves are facing a striking crisis this season, could do very well with the attacking prowess of the 27-year-old and manager Ronald Koeman is reported to be very keen to bring the forward to Goodison Park.

While the Toffees have failed to find goals on a regular basis since the sale of the big Belgian Romelu Lukaku, they still look like a very promising side and should the Merseysiders sign a good finisher, they can certainly challenge for the top of the Premier League.

The likes of Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez are good acquisitions but they do not have the same goal threat as expected of a finisher, which might be the reason Koeman is currently trailing Kodjia.
