Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen returned to former club Ajax to bid farewell after making a £23.6 million switch to the Toffees this summer.
Ronald Koeman allowed the 24-year-old to return to his homeland on Sunday and he was given a good reception by fans ahead of the Dutch giants game against Vitesse Arnheim.
Klaassen was paraded prior to kickoff and did a lap of honor during which he distributed signed match balls to those in attendance while supporters held a banner which stated, “Thanks Davy”.
During his six seasons with Ajax, Klaassen played 163 times, scoring 49 goals. Under the guidance of Frank de Boer, Klaassen helped his former club win three Eredivisie titles between 2012 and 2014.
He also led the side to the Europa League final last season where they lost to Manchester United. Klaassen will now hope that he can replicate the form that he produced for Ajax with Everton.
