Everton boss Koeman speaks about Niasse’s future following Bournemouth victory

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has vowed that striker Oumar Niasse has a future at the club after he netted a brace on Saturday to secure a 2-1 victory for his side in the Premier League.

Following the game, Koeman went on to reveal that he was not surprised by the Ivorian’s performance against the Cherries and said, “It is not surprising to me because I know him.

“Last season was a totally different situation with Lukaku but we did not sign a striker and we have two strikers – Sandro (Ramirez) is 21, Dominic (Calvert-Lewis) is 20 – and that gave him a chance to be more close to the first team.

“The boy has that kind of quality and with his aggression and direct play he can create a lot of problems.”

Just 12 months ago, Niasse was demoted to the Toffees under-23 side and denied a squad number as Koeman did not view him as part of the club’s plans. The striker went on to spend the second half of the season on loan with Hull City.

The Senegal international was given a lifeline at Everton this summer after the Toffees failed to secure a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United.
