As per Ghana Soccernet, West Ham summer arrival Joseph Anang is unable to make the team’s official squad as a result of a continued delay in getting him a work permit.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper arrived east London from Ghanaian club Wa All Stars FC in August for a trial having caught the eyes of West Ham scouts.
Subsequently, Anang impressed manager Slaven Bilic and the coaching crew, and a 3-year contract was handed to him, with the view of having him become the club’s 3rd choice shotstopper following Darren Randolph’s exit to Middlesbrough.
Anang has been training alongside Joe Hart and Adrian at the club’s Rush Green training complex in Romford, and the Hammers are putting in a lot of efforts in ensuring his work permit is secured right on time.
The youngster has strengths that include kicking and excellent reflexes, and could help provide quality backup for a West Ham defence that has leaked 13 league goals already this season.
With the likes of Domingos Quina, Nathan Holland and Sead Haksabanovic arriving in the last 18 months as future talents to be developed for the club, it’s hoped Anang will also be able to prove himself in goal going forward.
