According to reports, Everton are monitoring Benfica star Raul Jimenez.

The Toffees are still in need of a proven quality striker after losing Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United during the summer. The Merseyside club have been reported to have chased Jimenez during the summer and even failed with a late loan bid.

Despite spending heavily during the summer, the Toffees have so far played poorly this season and taken just four points from their opening five games. Everton will need to make significant improvements if they wish to have a good season particularly in attack.

Should the club continue to misfire, there is a strong chance that they will work hard on securing the services of Jimenez in January.

The Mexican will however not come cheap and is expected to cost in the region of £40 million. It remains to see what will happen as time progresses but there is a chance that a deal could happen.
