Celtic visit Dens Park on Wednesday night to face Dundee in the Scottish League Cup Quarter-final, and many expect the encounter to be a walk in the park for the Hoops, considering the huge chasm between both teams.
However, The Dark Blues’ forward Faissal El Bakhtaoui believes the visitors’ 55-game unbeaten run can be ended.
He witnessed first-hand their humbling at the hands of PSG, and reckons his side have got a chance if they manage to emulate the French giants.
The former Scottish League One Player of the Year said ahead of Wednesday’s clash: “I was at the PSG game after Scott Allan got me tickets and I went along with my friend.
“PSG are a great team and produced one of the best performances I have ever seen. To be fair to them, PSG have some really good players.
“It just didn’t happen for Celtic on the night. It is not often you go to Celtic Park and see a team exploit Celtic’s weaknesses like PSG did.
“Watching the match gives teams like Dundee some hope. We know Celtic are beatable. Now Dundee just have to play like PSG!”
Celtic are clear favorites to scoop all 3 local trophies once again this term, and exiting the League Cup at the hands of a side that have managed just a win and draw in the SPFL thus far would come as a huge shock.
Despite being optimistic of Dundee’s chances, El Bakhtaoui agrees upsetting the odds wouldn’t be easy, as he added: “Seriously, though, it is going to be a very tough tie because Celtic are the best team in Scotland and we are facing really good players.
“I would like to think Celtic would maybe change their team around a bit as that would give us a better chance of succeeding in the Cup game.
“But it doesn’t really matter who Celtic bring in to play against us as they have quality players all throughout their squad.”
