As per EatSleepSport, West Ham are back on the trail of Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira, as their scouts were in attendance to watch him during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Rio Ave.
The Hammers had the 26-year-old as plan B for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho during the summer transfer window, but with the likelihood of getting their man now very low, they have switched full attention to Danilo.
A winter move could be on the cards for the Portuguese international, who is rated £32million, just a little less than Carvalho, and offers similar service in the heart of the midfield.
Danilo was in the thick of action for Portugal last month during the World Cup qualifying 1-0 over Hungary, with Carvalho on the bench.
The Portuguese registered a goal at the weekend, and actually has more attacking strengths than his fellow international teammate.
The Benfica man is at the prime of his powers and is definitely an upgrade on the ageing Mark Noble.
West Ham need such quality presence calling the shots in the middle of the park for them, and Danilo ticks the boxes.
