“The Past is the Past” for Ravel Morrison in His New Chapter in Mexico

San Luis vs Leon

This Wednesday Ravel Morrison was officially presented as Atlas’ last signing this transfer window. Atlas’ vice president Alberto de la Torre and Morrison himself took the time to talk to the press and discuss motives of the signing, objectives among other topics.

The move took a lot of people by surprise as it is rare for any English player to play abroad and especially land on the southern hemisphere. The move was a risk for Atlas as it is unclear if Morrison can play at his top level or get past the off the field issues he has had in the past.

The 24-year-old does seem motivated to resurrect his career in this new chapter in it and made it clear on Wednesday that his previous issues will not follow him. Morrison said, “The past is the past. When you are on the field you are not in the past, we are in the present”.

Alberto de la Torre also chimed in on this topic and said, “Those negative things happened a long time ago, like Ravel said, this will be a new challenge for him, he is ready to triumph”. Morrison could be making his debut as early as this Friday when Los Zorros host Tigres UANL at the Estadio Jalisco. It will be interesting to see if the young Englishman can get back on track and shine in the Liga MX.
