Henry Onyekuru has revealed that he has no regrets about snubbing Celtic to join Everton.
The Toffees snapped up the 20-year-old Onyekuru for £7 million from KAS Eupen this summer and have since loaned him out to Belgian club Anderlecht where he will continue his development.
The Nigerian international will have an opportunity to show the Hoops what they missed out on when Anderlecht take on the Scottish giants in the Champions League on September 27.
It is understandable as to why Onyekuru may have snubbed Rodgers. Everton are an advancing Premier League side who could potentially qualify for the Champions League this season. Ronald Koeman has also earned praise for his ability to bring out the best from young talent.
While discussing the interest from Rodgers, Onyekuru said, “I knew of the interest from Celtic but it was my destiny to join Everton. I’m really happy that a club like Celtic were interested in me.
“But I still need to improve as a player and I can do that at Anderlecht before hopefully playing in the Premier League. I want to have an excellent season in Belgium before returning to Everton.”
