Neymar has said that his Brazil team-mate Philippe Coutinho is “filled with sadness” after failing to engineer a move from Liverpool to Barcelona this summer.
The 25-year-old Coutinho has yet to feature for the Reds this season as he tried to make possible a move to the Spanish giants.
Liverpool though have insisted that the player is not for sale and rejected numerous moves that were made by Ernesto Valverde’s team.
Despite supposedly being unavailable for his club due to a back injury, Coutinho played for his country during their World Cup qualifier against Ecuador on Thursday night and scored during their 2-0 win.
He appeared to be emotional as he celebrated after scoring the goal and Neymar confirmed that his team-mate was sad, saying, “I’m very happy that he scored a goal because at this moment he lives a very great sadness. He helped us to the victory. He’s a great player and did very well when he came on.”
