Aston Villa attacker hoping to repay the faith of his international manager

Aston Villa midfielder Robert Snodgrass has revealed that he is hoping to repay Gordon Strachan for showing faith in him and selecting him for Scotland’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Lithuania and Malta.

The 29-year-old Snodgrass was included in the Scotland side despite not playing for West Ham during the first few games of the season.

After being frozen out of the Hammers first team fold, he eventually joined Aston Villa recently on loan in order to start playing again.

He said of his selection, “Of course, obviously if you are playing it is something you have got in your mind, ‘This is what it is all about. Match fitness is something you need and I have not had any games in three weeks or something, just pre-season games.

“But I am fit in myself, one of the fittest conditions I have ever been in, because I knew I was coming back and I was ready for that challenge. I think every one of us has something to prove with what is at stake.

“We can’t afford any more slip ups, we need to win. We need to try to win every game to try to give ourselves the best possible chance. People are quick to think if you are not playing you are a bad player and it is not that at all.”

Snodgrass will now be hoping to deliver for his country and hopefully play well in games which are winnable.
